Culross Medieval Burgh Fair
The Royal Burgh of Culross Medieval Burgh Fair, with traditions dating back to medieval times, takes place from 12 noon on Sunday, August 5th.
The fair regularly attracts thousands of visitors to Culross, the birthplace of St Mungo, patron saint of Glasgow.
Culross was granted Royal Burgh status in 1592 and could be described as a town which time has passed by.
The parade from Old Schoolyard Garden, leading to the opening ceremony, performed this year by local councillor Gerry McMullanat 12 noon, will include local children dressed in period costume and led by a pipe band from Inverkeithing.
The main bustle is at the Tron, the heart of the fair, where Rosa Mundi Historical Interpretation Society will perform, inform and entertain on the village green. Craft, local produce and various other stalls, with traders dressed in period costume, all add to the day's entertainment and refreshments will be the tradition teas on the green.
The popular Culross Highland Dance Competition, will take place in the Stables Courtyard, Low Causeway. |
